You’ll mostly hear Mandarin Chinese during our Retreat with some Taiwanese from the older generations.

We’ll do the translating for you and even teach you a few fun phrases and how to order your tea in Mandarin.

YES! In fact, I believe Taiwan is the safest place I have ever lived or visited. I’m going to even go out on a limb here and say it might be the safest place in the world. To give you an example, it feels perfectly safe to walk around the streets late at night alone or to take a taxi late at night by yourself.

Both Beth and I have travelled back and forth to Taiwan multiple times in recent years. We believe the country feels perfectly safe. If we did not feel that way, we would not be going either! Furthermore, my husband works for a major bicycle company and they send employees there weekly. He was also very recently in Taiwan for work. Everything feels perfectly safe and our Taiwanese friends are not worried. (Updated April 5, 2025)

In the unlikely case of a Taiwan national lockdown coinciding with the dates of the retreat, you will be offered the choice to transfer to the rescheduled retreat or a full refund of your fees paid.
